Just a little fall...

Hello Friends.  Just thought I would share a few photos of my early fall decorating.

My living and dining rooms have quite a bit of red in their décor.  I have muted it some over the years, but it is still ever present in these rooms (really, one looooong room).  This used to be a bit of a conundrum for me when it would come to fall decorating because the oranges, rusts, and browns would clash so with the red and I could never get them to meet at a happy place no matter how hard I tried.

Fortunately, I finally came to the nice conclusion that I can simply focus the fall decorating on the front door and family room, leaving the living and dining rooms to do what they always do well come Christmastime.

:)

So....below is my "early fall" décor thus far....

My front door will soon be more decked out for Halloween, but it felt too early for now!

Everything was recycled from last year and I moved my orange garden stool from the backyard to the front.  I also moved my orange chair pillows from the backyard to the family room to add some extra color (since it is primarily black and white).  I did purchase the little pumpkins, mums, and candy...total spent $7!  :)

Final summery displays....

Oh, I am ready for fall!  We had several days last week with temperatures in the 100s.  This week was a bit cooler, but required the air conditioning nonetheless.  I am already thinking about placing a fall wreath upon my door and getting some pumpkins and apple picking but the weather is just not with me yet!

Here are a few flowers from the yard, as well as some new Chinese vases (above).  Our hydrangeas (below) appear to be blooming again...trying to keep me happy as I wait, wait, wait for fall.

Touching up the Kitchen

I thought I would take advantage of the 3-day weekend and touch up my kitchen paint a bit with some leftover paint.  The kitchen had a yellow and red thing going on....(see THIS POST), but as I have become increasingly minimalist (and GREENER) so, too, has the kitchen.  I also cleaned it really well and polished up the granite and chrome.  Here is it's current status (the lighting for my photos was not ideal, sorry!):

(the last bit of yellow and red in the room is seen here at my correspondence workstation...)

(behind these doors is my pantry as seen HERE)
I am pretty happy with the kitchen right now.  Honestly, the designer in me would like to change several things (flooring, appliances, backsplash...), but our kitchen is spacious, pretty, clean, functional, and the essence of *home* for us.

And I'm grateful for that.

:D
